Safety First

OUR TOP CANDLE SAFTY TIPS:

I know we’ve all heard it a million times, but when it comes to safety, sometimes hearing it again certainly doesn’t hurt.

You would think it’s just plain common sense, but you wouldn’t believe the stories I’ve heard (and even experienced). Like the woman who put a candle on the back of the toilet, directly under hanging towels and was surprised when the towels caught fire; the one gentleman who left a candle burning overnight on his wood desk and was upset that it scorched the desk; and another woman who put a candle on a windowsill with the breeze blowing...needless to say, those curtains went up in flames!

Trust me, the list goes on and on. Luckily, in all of these situations, no one was hurt, but candle safety is of utmost importance! Simple common sense and following the warnings that I have all heard countless times would have prevented all of the mentioned situations.

  1. Always keep a burning candle within sight
  2. Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire
  3. Keep burning candles out of the reach of children and pets
  4. Always burn candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface
  5. Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and debris
  6. Always read and follow the manufacturer’s use and safety instructions carefully.
